The Children’s ministries in your church is on a journey to disciple boys and girls and their parents. It is a collaborative process. It is one that they can’t do alone and it is one that needs input from various sources. Prayerfully, they are working with the parents as a second voice that is reinforcing the discipleship process from home. Strategically they need to collaborate with the leadership team of the church to have a smooth transition into youth ministry and the life of the church. It all takes collaboration. Even within the children’s ministry of the church there needs to be collaboration so that the whole team is working together 
toward a common goal, sharing resources and strategy.
With that in mind the Discipleship Ministries has initiated a collaboration process with churches to partner with their children’s ministries to provide a framework that will foster collaboration between the children’s ministry, the home and the church.
The Collaborate partnership begins with a children’s ministry one day training. These can be with one church or multiple churches. They typically last from 10 am—4 pm. This process will include the entire children’s ministry LEADERSHIP team. It may be your children’s ministry pastor, coordinator, etc. and their LEADERSHIP team, i.e., (midweek leaders, nursery coordinator, discipleship leader, Sunday School Coordinator, Outreach Leader, etc. ) In this retreat we focus on 3 areas of collaboration within the church, (family, church leadership, and the children’s ministry team). We will help the team to see what it takes to be a part of a winning team, how to cooperate with and enhance the mission of their church, and how to know what their contribution to the team ought to be. In this first meeting we will also introduce the teams to the “Strengths Finder 2.0” book to help them discover their strengths and an action plan for applying their strengths on the children’s ministry team in the next week, month and year.
The Collaborate partnership will not end with this retreat. We will also provide an ongoing partnership throughout the next year. If churches desire we can facilitate a children’s ministry leadership book that will enhance their teams development.
Two times throughout the school year we will provide an on-site consultation on a Sunday or midweek depending on the desire of the local church. These can be times of evaluation and/or ministry training for the leadership team or the whole children’s ministry department.
Throughout the Collaborate partnership we will be available to the children’s ministry leader and the local senior pastor for on-going phone consultations. In the beginning of the process before my first on-site consultation, I will either have a phone meeting with the local pastor or an on-site meeting to determine the pastors goals for the children’s ministry team.
The process will culminate with the children’s ministry leadership team taking a fieldtrip to a church which is doing an excellent job doing ministry in a fashion that closely matches your unique children’s ministry style. These fieldtrips will be within a driving distance of your facility.
Because the Collaborate partnership includes multiple meetings with multiple churches we are limiting the process to 5 churches this year. The cost of Collaborate is minimal. It will be $300 for the one day retreat for the whole team. This will include the first book. The rest of the cost is providing books for your leadership team and the cost of mileage for your two on-site consultations.
You have to have an established children’s ministry team. This team doesn’t have to be fully complete, however, those who are on the team need to commit to completing the partnership and being part of the process.
