cotton-candyThrough the years I have raised money for camp in various ways.   There are a lot of great ideas.   One way that we raised a lot of money was with Papa Murphy cards.  We bought the cards for $1 and sold them for $5. They were worth about $35 in coupons.  Check with your local Papa Murphy's for details.  It was really simple.

BUT, that is not what I am going to share today.  With the summer in full swing, I thought I would share two of my best money saving and money making tips.

p1120854I don't know about you, but I love fresh ideas.  I love God ideas.  Today I think I witnessed a God idea and it is fresh.   It is relevent to today's kids and anyone can do it.  Dale Hudson is a children's pastor in West Palm Beach Florida.  He had in my opinion a great idea.

He was wrestling with the age old question of rewards.  He had the store and gave points for kids who brought Bibles, visitors, etc.   One day he had given three bicycles to kids who earned them and they turned around and gave them to kids in need.

Later that night an idea was born.

firebibleThis is a letter I just found from our Assistant Superitendent Alton Garrison.  I have included a link to a PDF that will show you some pictures.  They are great!!

March 2010

Dear Friend of the Fire Bible,

Ours kids need it!

Now, to survive in today’s world, our kids must have the power of the Holy Spirit.

That is why the Assemblies of God Bible Alliance is undertaking one of its most ambitious projects during 2010 — the
production of the very first Pentecostal study Bible for children — the Fire Bible for Kids

We’re doing everything we can to make this tool available, including making it our theme project for 2010. We will be
emphasizing it throughout the year and on December 12—Bible Sunday in the Assemblies of God.

In Acts 2:38-39 (NIV), the Holy Spirit is promised to our kids: “You will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The
promise is for you and your children and all who are far off.”

With the Fire Bible for Kids, we are helping the children of the world today — and for generations to come — know that the
Holy Spirit is for them and the promise is for them. We are Preserving the Promise!

The church today needs to major on prevention instead of intervention. The battleground for the hearts and minds of our
children is now in elementary school, not just middle and high school.

I was recently told that 78 percent of the world’s children have never heard the name of Jesus and that 93 percent are
considered biblically illiterate. We are believing that the Fire Bible for Kids will be a tool singularly used of God to help change the previously mentioned statistics and, at the
same time, introduce thousands of children across the world to the Pentecostal experience.

The Fire Bible for Kids is currently in production, but I have been given some sample copies of a few pages. I was so excited when I got these that I had to share them
with you. We have reprinted them and enclosed them in this letter to you. Please take a few moments to look at them.

What makes the Fire Bible for Kids different from every other children’s Bible is its emphasis on the Pentecostal experience and Spirit-filled life.
Some of the articles of emphasis include:

 Doctrine of the Holy Spirit
 Baptism of the Holy Spirit
 Speaking in Tongues
 Spiritual Gifts

We’re in the process now of rewriting the notes from the original Fire Bible by missionary Don Stamps so that children of all ages can read and understand them.
We feel the Fire Bible for Kids will be singularly used of God around the world to help us preserve the promise of the Holy Spirit for future generations.
However, as always, we need help to produce this great tool.

And, as always, all we ask is that you ask the Author of the Book we publish how He would have you be involved in providing the first Pentecostal study Bible for
children.

Think about it. As God leads, you can get in on the ground floor of the production of this wonderful tool. This is a pioneer opportunity.

The first people (a couple) that we told about the Fire Bible for Kids committed $50,000 which was a tremendous encouragement. God may lead you to give $10, $50,
$100, $1,000 or $50,000. Just ask Him and respond. If the funds are available, we hope to have the Fire Bible for Kids available this
fall in time for Bible Sunday, December 12. Preserving the Promise! will be our theme on that day, and churches and individuals across our Fellowship will join with us
to help make available this first ever Pentecostal study Bible for children. The children of the world need the power of the Holy Spirit. No, they must have
the power of the Holy Spirit. Please join with us in preserving the promise for them. Follow the leading of the Author and be a part of producing the first Pentecostal study
Bible for kids.

Be a part of Preserving the Promise! with your gift today for the Fire Bible for Kids.

Yours for the children of the world,

Alton Garrison

P.S. Please pass this letter on to your pastor or church missions director, if you think your
church would be interested in celebrating Bible Sunday with us on December 12 or
another Sunday this year. They can ORDER a Preserving the Promise! DVD and other
Bible Sunday materials (FREE) by visiting our Web site at www.BibleAlliance.org or by
calling us at 800.532.0440.

If you are like me you receive a lot of email and much of it you just delete.  One email that I don't usually delete however is from Groups Church Volunteer Central.   Today's post was about recruiting volunteers.

Who doesn't need more volunteers?   I know I hear every now and then from someone who says they can't use anymore volunteers.   I have a few thoughts about that.  1.  Is the preaching that bad that everyone would rather volunteer?  2. Are you sure that you are in children's ministry?  3.  If this is really true you are really blessed!   But for the rest of the people who are volunteer challenged, I had a good article come through the email today.  It's all about volunteers.  I'm tempted just to repost the whole thing here but I don't think that would be right.  Instead, I'll give just an introduction of the article and let you read the rest if you'd like.  It's really quite good.
